Arrive at Calicut airport, first evening in Kozhikode

- Step into the Mishkal Mosque in Kuttichira
- Drive north to Kappad Beach and its landing plaque
- Dinner of Mappila dishes such as biryani and pathiri
Kozhikode to Kannur: Thalassery biryani and St Angelo Fort
- Drive about 92 km up the coast to Kannur
- Stop at Thalassery for a biryani lunch, and a look at its fort if time allows
- Visit St Angelo Fort and the Arakkal Museum
- Watch the sun go down at Payyambalam Beach
Muzhappilangad drive-in beach and Parassinikadavu
- Morning on Muzhappilangad, the firm-sand drive-in beach
- Visit the Muthappan temple at Parassinikadavu on the Valapattanam river
- Look in at a handloom weaving unit, as Kannur is Kerala's largest handloom district
- In the theyyam season, your driver can ask locally about a performance nearby, though none can be promised
Kannur to Bekal Fort
- Drive north to Bekal, roughly 78 km
- Walk the walls of Bekal Fort and climb the observation tower for the view of the sea
- Spend the late afternoon on Bekal Beach, next to the fort
- Evening at leisure
Last morning at Bekal and departure from Mangaluru
- Breakfast, then an unhurried last look at the fort or beach if your flight time allows
- Drive about 75 km into Karnataka to Mangaluru International Airport for your flight
